Well done to Jorja Rowe, 1st year, who was awarded first place in The Strokestown Poetry School’s Competition last weekend. Her poem is entitled ‘There is no such Thing as Perfect’.

Jorja was in attendance with other students from the various secondary schools from around the county and came away with first prize. Jorja represented herself and her school exceptionally well and we are very proud of her creative work.

It was a lovely evening at the award ceremony in The Percy French Hotel as part of the International Poetry Festival.

Please take pleasure in reading Jorja’s winning poem:

There is No Such Thing as Perfect

There is no such thing

as perfect.

Where did the word come from?

The perfect house, the perfect job

The perfect life.

We are all human, living in

a human world. Most are nice,

Sincere, loving, even kind.

But perfect causes such

Unhappiness.

Perfect is unreal, untouchable.

Accept Good, Well Done and

Wonderful. Do your best,

Be your best.

There is no such thing

as perfect.

Be happy. Not perfect.

Congratulations to Jorja Rowe 1st year on successfully scooping first place at The Strokestown Poetry School's Competition
